Member company CDI, Inc. broke ground on a Terre Haute restaurant that’s adding a second location.
CDI broke ground on a plot of land at the Vigo County Fairgrounds on a second Culver’s location. We’re excited for them, and we know they will do a fantastic job constructing a building that all of Terre Haute will enjoy! We had a great time once again at Rod & Gun Steakhouse with all our WVCA members. Thank you to all those who attended. We extend a special thank you to RJL Solutions’ Eric Perry, Director of Government Relations, who was guest speaker, presenting on the 2023 Indiana Legislative Session.
We’ll see you all again on Thursday, June 15 for our next dinner meeting. What a great turnout last Thursday for our Dinner Meeting and Awards Night! Thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed our first meeting in 2023. Congratulations to our award recipients listed below.
The President’s Award is the top honor of the evening. Past recipients of this award are a benchmark for future recipients. They are given a personal plaque to keep and a large shovel traveling plaque that highlights all of the past recipients. The Cornerstone Award is presented annually to a member company for their outstanding contributions to the construction industry and our Association. This is the first time that that Wright, Shagley & Lowery, P.C. has won this award. The Scholarship Award is for college students that are incoming juniors and seniors. The recipients who earn this scholarship must complete the application and have a minimum 2.50 GPA. To be eligible, the applicant's parent(s) must be currently working for a WVCA membership company.
The Under Construction exhibit, located at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, was recently dismantled in preparation for a new exhibit to take its place. As the exhibit’s title sponsor and the region’s unified coalition for the construction industry, WVCA was proud to partner with the museum to bring unique, hands-on educational opportunities to its visitors.
The exhibit welcomed children of all ages to explore drawing, driving, lifting, welding and assembling much like the Wabash Valley’s electricians, operators, plumbers, architects, bricklayers and the many tradespeople who make up our region. Member company Earl C. Rodgers had their team members there to help dismantle it, along with the Terre Haute Children’s Museum staff and volunteers. Take a look at the dismantling process in this video Another successful Christmas Party is in the books! Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2022 Annual WVCA Christmas Party on Friday night. We appreciate our members, friends and families who attend each year. A special thank you to those who donated items to raffle, and thank you to the board for planning this event. Thank you to everyone who came out to the October Dinner Meeting, our last official dinner meeting of the year. A special thank you to Greg Goode, Executive Director of Wabash River Regional Development Authority Government Relations and University Communications for Indiana State University and Chair of the , for being our guest speaker. Reminder: our next gathering will be December 2nd for the 2022 WVCA Christmas Party! It was a beautiful day when we hosted our annual WVCA Scholarship Golf Outing at Hulman Links Golf Course on Friday, September 9th in Terre Haute!
